[ARCHIVED] AM Large Cargo Aircraft Arrival August 3rd

Paine Field has a scheduled AM arrival of a large cargo aircraft (Antonov AN-124) on Thursday August 3rd. The projected winds at the time of arrival will favor an approach from the south on runway 34L. This arrival will be conducted under the instructions of Seattle Terminal Approach and Paine Field's FAA control tower. This operation may cause a noise event over Lake Forest Park, Edmonds and Lynnwood as the aircraft turns inbound for landing.

The scheduled departure time is approximately 3 hours after landing.

The Antonov An-124 Ruslan is a strategic airlift jet aircraft. It was designed in the 1980s by the Antonov design bureau in the Ukrainian SSR, then part of the Soviet Union (USSR). Until the Boeing 747-8F, the An-124 was, for thirty years, the world's heaviest aircraft gross weight production cargo airplane and second heaviest operating cargo aircraft, behind the one-off Antonov An-225 (a greatly enlarged design based on the An-124). The An-124 remains the largest military transport aircraft in the world.

This aircraft is being used to transport GE90 engines from the Columbus, Ohio manufacturing plant to the Boeing production facility at Paine Field.
